Learn Music with Annie
Lessons
Annie believes that her role as a teacher is to foster the musical expressiveness of a student, which grows out of a foundation of secure technique and understanding of historical contexts.
Annie has been a private teacher for over 30 years. She has also worked as a peripatetic teacher in schools, teaching individuals and small groups as well as conducting school bands and ensembles. Annie was a staff member at Mitchell Conservatorium for 12 years, and for 9 years until 2019 worked as a high school music teacher in the Central West and Sydney.
Tuition is offered in piano, flute, clarinet, saxophone and music theory. Annie can also assist high school students studying Stage 6 Music I or II/Extension with preparation for their Aural Skills HSC exam. Annie teaches from beginners to advanced levels, from 5 year olds to adults of all ages.
Annie teaches a wide variety of styles including classical (AMEB exams if desired), jazz and pop, as well as improvisation and chord reading.
Annie teaches the styles that the student would like to learn but also likes to expand their repertoire, as she believes each style has important technical and musical features which are important for the well-rounded musician to understand.
